  • US Settled Securities: In 2022, US securities class action filings were flat compared to the previous year, while settlements slightly increased.  We look closer at the top 10 settlements, disbursements, and SEC Fair Funds challenges. 
  • US Settled Antitrust: Last year, over $700m was distributed back to investors. There's another $4B still be to distributed in 2023 and beyond. While the antitrust litigation pipeline is smaller, there are still significant opportunities. 
  • Non-US Litigation: 2022 saw more than 50 non-US opportunities for investors across 11 countries. Hear FRT's outlook for jurisdictions including Australia, Brazil, Germany, Netherlands, and the UK.

As Senior Vice President of Worldwide Litigation, Mike is primarily responsible for FRT’s Non-US Opt-In, Antitrust, and US Opt-Out services. In that role, he helps clients navigate the many challenges in evaluating recovery opportunities, analyze the associated risks, and build a comprehensive shareholder litigation program that maximizes returns while minimizing risk. He has a deep working knowledge of securities litigation worldwide, and a rich network of relationships in the US and abroad with lawyers, funders, and other professionals involved in recovery efforts, all of which he brings to bear for FRT clients. A licensed attorney since 1991, before joining FRT, Mike was a Partner at Berman DeValerio & Pease, one of the country’s leading law firms prosecuting securities, consumer, and antitrust litigation for institutional investors. Mike holds a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from Swarthmore College.

Emily Fortin

Emily Fortin is Director of Legal Operations & Counsel at FRT where she manages our Legal operations and Case Research teams responsible for our domestic securities class actions, non-US opt-in securities class actions, opt-out direct securities actions, and antitrust actions services. Emily previously worked for various law firms in Massachusetts with a focus on securities and finance law.  Emily received her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and her B.A. from the George Washington University.


Colin Holmes

Colin Holmes is associate counsel with FRT where he advises institutional investors regarding domestic securities class actions, non-US opt-in securities class actions, opt-out direct securities actions, and antitrust actions.  Colin previously worked for over ten years for law firms in Massachusetts and New York, on the plaintiff’s side, representing institutional investors in securities class action litigation, and on the defense side, representing hedge funds and other financial institutions in commercial and securities litigation.  Colin received his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
